Mandarin ( Citrus reticulata )

Extraction is by expression of the fruit peel

Odour - intense, sweet, fresh citrus aroma

History - a fruit traditionally given to the mandarins of China, hence its name.

Uses - its refreshing and uplifting qualities are often used to eliminate depression and anxiety. The aromas joyful and harmonising evoking the carefree playfulness of the positive 'inner child'. Used to treat the elderly as it is a tonic, digestive aid and a mild sedative for the nervous system. It has been used for babies suffering from colic or hiccups. Useful for calming the intestines and relieving flatulence; it helps regulate metabolic processes and aids the secretion of bile and break down of fats. Often used with neroli and wheatgerm oil to help prevention of stretch marks during pregnancy.

Blends with - other citrus oils, the chamomiles, spice oils such as black pepper and ginger, jasmine, lavender, sweet marjoram, sandalwood.

Safety - non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising
