Petitgrain; Citrus aurantium

Extraction is by steam distillation of the leaves and twigs.

Odour - fresh-floral citrus with a woody herbaceous undertone.

History - the name means 'little grains' and the oil was originally distilled from the unripe fruit. One of the classic ingredients of Eau de Cologne.

Uses - insomnia, nervous exhaustion and stress-related disorders. Has a tonic effect on the skin so has been used for acne, greasy skin and hair. Has useful deoderising properties. A useful anti-depressant as an alternative to bergamot for longer term use. its sedative properties make it useful for insomnia.

Blend with bergamot, cedarwood, clary sage, geranium, lavender, lime, jasmine, neroli, orange, palmarosa, rosemary, rosewood, sandalwood and ylang-ylang. The major constituents in our oil are available on request (GC/MS)
