Sandalwood ( Santalum album )
Extraction is by steam distillation from the coarsely powdered
heart wood and roots.

Odour - a tenacious, soft, sweet-woody balsamic aroma.

History - one of the oldest known aromatic materials having been in use for at least 4,000 years.  Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. Widely used in perfumery. has been used for 'Barber's rash'.

Uses - soothing, cooling and moisturising to the skin, used for dry skin, inflamed skin, eczema, psoriasis, oily skin and acne. Useful for respiratory tract infections such as chronic bronchitis with a chronic dry cough. May be helpful for cystitis. Used as a meditation tool it helps to still and clarify the mind and quiet over thinking.

Blends with - benzoin, bergamot, black pepper, geranium, lavender, myrrh, rose.

Safety - non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising.
