Coriander ( Coriandrum sativum )
Extraction is by steam distillation of the crushed, ripe seeds.

Odour - sweet, woody-spicy, slightly musky smell.

History - Domestic spice. has been found in Egyptian tombs. Used in making liqueurs such as Chartreuse and Benedictine and to flavour some gins.

Uses - for neuralgia and rheumatic pains for its analgesic, warming and comforting properties. Stimulates the appetite and has been used in treating anorexia.

Blends with - bergamot, clary sage, jasmine, sandalwood, ginger and other spices.

Safety - non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising.
