Eucalyptus (globulus) ( Eucalyptus globulus )

Extracted by steam distillation of the fresh or partially dried leaves.

Odour - somewhat harsh camphoraceous odour with a woody-scent undertone.

History - traditional household remedy in
Australia where the leaves and oil are used for respiratory ailments, feverish conditions and skin problems. Commercially used in liniments, inhalants, cough syrups, ointments, toothpaste, in vetinary practice and dentistry.

Uses - blister, cuts, herpes, insect bites, insect repellent, lice, skin infections. Helpful for muscular aches and pains, poor circulation, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains. Traditionally used to treat asthma, and best known for treating bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, sinusitis, throat infections. Helpful when feeling trapped and 'suffocated as it instils a sense of freedom, inspiring an urge for wider experience of life.

Blends with - cedarwood, frankincense, ginger, juniper, lavender, lemon, marjoram, myrtle, niaouli, peppermint, rosemary, tea tree.

Safety - non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitising. Taken internally eucalyptus oil is toxic.
